The stadium was constructed between 1967 and 1968 and only cost $1.6 million to build, the equivalent of over $12.5 million today. That’s remarkable because it already opened with 35,000 seats. The stadium was expanded in 1970 ad 1999 and has been renovated multiple times over the decades.

2. David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium

David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium is a stadium in Lawrence that serves as the home venue of the Kansas Jayhawks football team. It’s a stadium in Kansas that has an extended history because it first opened its doors in 1921. All this time it has been the Jayhawks’ stadium.

Because it was constructed in the early 1920s, it’s the eighth-oldest stadium in the United States and the oldest west of the Mississippi River. The stadium is nicknamed “The Booth” and was named in honor of David G. Booth, the man who provided $50 million for the stadium’s facelift.

3. Children’s Mercy Park

Children’s Mercy Park is the home of the Sporting Kansas City soccer team, the only team in the state that competes in one of the major leagues. It’s located in the vicinity of the Kansas Speedway in Wyandotte County, which means that the stadium is located within Kansas and not Missouri.

The amazing modern sports venue was constructed between 2010 and 2011 and cost $200 million to build the equivalent of well over $240 million today. The stadium can seat over 18,000 spectators but his figure can be increased to 25,000 for concerts.

4. Allen Fieldhouse

Allen Fieldhouse is an amazing indoor arena that is located n the campus of the University of Kansas in Lawrence. It’s the home of both the men’s and women’s Kansas Jayhawks basketball teams and has served this purpose since the arena was completed in the year 1955.

The arena was constructed between 1952 and 1955 and cost $2.5 million to build, the equivalent of over $25 million today. The capacity of the arena has been slightly reduced since then because it originally featured 17,000 seats. It’s credited with being the loudest college basketball arena in the US.

The INTRUST Bank Arena is a multi-purpose arena that is mainly used for ice hockey games. It’s the home of the Wichita Thunder ice hockey team which competes in the ECHL, a mid-level professional ice hockey league. It’s been the home of the team since it was completed in 2010.

The arena was constructed between 2007 and 2010 and cost $205.5 million to build, the equivalent of over $255 million today. Although the arena can seat 15,004 people during basketball games, this number can be expanded to 15,750 during concerts with center stage.
